Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you use ShopPilot we collect:

• Your WhatsApp phone number and WhatsApp profile name, which we use to identify your account.
• Your business name and business category, if you share them when you start.
• The business records you send us: sales, expenses, debts and any notes you include, including the names of customers you record as owing you money.
• The date and time of each message, so we can produce accurate daily summaries.
• Basic usage data, such as which features you use, to help us improve the service.

We do not collect your address, bank details or any government identification unless you choose to send them to us in a message.

2. How we use it

We use your information only to provide the ShopPilot service:

• Recording your sales, expenses and debt entries.
• Calculating totals and sending your daily summary.
• Improving the accuracy and reliability of ShopPilot over time.

3. Services that help us run ShopPilot

ShopPilot relies on a small number of trusted third-party providers to operate:

• WhatsApp Business Platform (Meta) for sending and receiving messages.
• Cloud infrastructure providers for securely storing your records.
• AI language model providers for understanding and parsing your messages.

These providers only process your information so they can perform their role for ShopPilot. Some of them store data on servers outside Nigeria, and we choose providers with strong security practices. We do not sell your data to any third party.

4. What we never do

• Sell your personal data.
• Share your records for advertising purposes.
• Use your business figures to assess creditworthiness on behalf of a lender.
• Contact you with unsolicited marketing outside of ShopPilot service messages.

5. Keeping your data safe

Your records are stored with encryption at rest and in transit. We apply access controls so that only authorised systems can read your data. No security system is perfect, but we take reasonable and proportionate steps to protect your information.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your records for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your data, we will remove it within 30 days. Backups may retain your data for a short additional period before they are overwritten.

7. Your rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 you have the right to:

• Know what personal data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Ask us to delete your data.
• Object to how we process your data.
• Withdraw your consent at any time by stopping use of the service.

8. Children

ShopPilot is intended for business owners aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has registered, please contact us and we will delete their account.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will send a notification through WhatsApp and update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of ShopPilot after a change means you accept the updated policy.
